Speaking Engagements

Are you looking for someone to speak at your real estate event?

I have years of experience speaking before real estate professionals about how they can use online marketing tools and technologies to improve their business.

Zillow gives us some remodeling porn, and…

… surprise, surprise, it’s fun!

The idea is that they provide two photos of different rooms (or areas) of a house, and you get to vote on which one is better.  The process is simple… View, vote and repeat.   Getting the hang of the site only takes a few moments and it shockingly addictive.

Another feature is that you can sort rooms that rank high (kitchens, for example), which could provide some interesting remodeling and staging ideas.

Play around for a bit and one thing that will stick out is the poor quality of many of the photos.   If you’re anything like me, then you’ll likely find yourself not voting for a room because the photo is out of focus, the angle is bad or the lighting is inadequate.   I doubt it will be news to anyone reading this blog, but good photos are important and Zillow’s Dueling Digs does a great job demonstrating the benefits of great photography.

Thanks dustin.
I really like Dueling Digs. I’m using it right now to get remodeling ideas for my kitchen. I have a designer who’s helping me and she asked me what colors I like. Huh? What colors do I like? I have no idea what colors I like. That’s just a language that I don’t speak. But I’m more than able to look through thousands of photos and say which *photos* I like. A fun AND useful tool.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-speed, Dustin!

How cool would it be if Zillow were to offer people a “Room Layout Application” online, where they could move walls etc when considering a remodel?!

We have some exciting times ahead of us as real estate continues to morph into all kinds of neat offerings online…. I can’t wait to see full, free access to comparable sales for the general public, nationwide. Wonder how long it will be before this ocurs.

Happy blogging,

Richard :)
