The end of SEO?
Or does the line between SEO and social media just get more blurry?

I’ve convinced myself that the one thing missing from Outside.in is that they…
…never made much inroads with the real estate community (or real estate portals for that matter). Imagine if the Realtor.com team had bought Outside.in instead of building the neighborhoods project.
And it really doesn’t matter if it was Zillow, Trulia, AOL, Yahoo or Realtor.com, it could be a win for the real estate portal (lots of [...]

Learning, learning, learning…
After last Thursday’s event, Jim and I took the weekend to relax and digest what we learned. The break was nice, but now we’re ready to hit the next event up harder than ever!
Here are some of the things that I learned from our first event:
The people in the audience seemed [...]

The 1st 4RealzEd event was yesterday and…
I think I’ve recovered enough now to actually post about it!
Despite our best efforts to be prepared, the day started off a bit rough with a nearby mudslide taking out power in our building in the morning (meaning no hot coffee and no projector) and a 9-car pileup on a nearby freeway [...]

John Frank does a great web2.0/blogging overview for..
…Realtor magazine!
Lots of RE.net names mentioned in this article in terms of both people and companies. Fun stuff all around.

Google spreading more love to real estate blogs?
Thanks to Jay’s post about Phoenix real estate, I just checked RCG’s ranking for [Seattle Real Estate] and noticed we bumped back up to the first page on Google. That particular search is normally pretty stable, so it’s nice to see an uptick for RCG.
Also interesting, I noticed that Jay appeared in a (relatively stable) [...]

Should homeowners own the domain of their property?
Jim goes so far as to imagine a day when a domain gets passed along with the real property. While the conversation is largely irrelevant in today’s market, I find the topic strangely compelling and even start wondering about random ramifications. For example, how well would a URL have to rank in Google before it [...]

No one is talking about trying to attract irrelevant traffic…
…and I’m surprised that Greg has such a lowly view of Google’s algorithms. I’ve found that the traffic that comes to RCG from search terms like [moving to seattle] and [agent recommendations] is highly relevant and RCG contributors get more than a few clients out of search terms like these each month. Having [...]

Here’s a little story on what helped launch RCG, while…
…previous real estate blogs weren’t getting much traffic.
About the same time I started blogging about real estate, Google came out with gmaps. In order to build a little buzz around my new site, I built a little app on top of the their platform that put NWMLS data on top of a google map. [...]

When someone guarantees Google placement…
…you can be pretty sure they are trying to sell you a website product and they are hoping to play off of your inexperience.
Let’s take Rain City Guide for example… Mary McKnight gives 8 steps to guarantee first page placement in Google. I’ve done EVERY one of these things (and more) on [...]
